'Nature does not create works of art. It is we, and the faculty of interpretation peculiar to the human mind, that see art.'
—Man Ray
Artistic Statement
Light breathes life into what it touches as well as taking it away.
Combining light and time, life is transferred from foliage to otherwise lifeless paper. As light touches the leaves, pollen, stems, and petals, its life is transferred from the foliage to the paper and new life is born.
Over time, the photosynthetic tissue in the flowers dies and a new creation is breathed onto the paper.
